ABOUT US
OSTEOPATHY PRACTICE
PHILOSOPHY
I have been practicing Osteopathy in Cavan since 2004 after graduating from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine 2002. I am passionate about promoting Osteopathy as a treatment modality that gets to the root of the symptoms presented and I believe that the pro-active approach offered by Osteopathy offers a viable alternative/adjunct to long-term medication.
I have good success rates for neck and low-back problems. I specialize in and have developed effective treatments for Disc/Nerve Entrapment Syndromes, Paediatric Ear, Nose & Throat conditions, Low-back /Pelvic pain during pregnancy and most Sports-related injuries.
My practice is kept up to date with on-going training and continuous professional development of at least 30 hours per year.
Away from work I enjoy family life with my wife and three children. I also enjoy walking, running and cycling as well as general fitness training and reading.
"When you touch one thing with deep awareness,
you touch everything."

OSTEOPATHY
When you visit an osteopath for the first time a full medical history will be taken and you will be given a physical examination.
You will normally be asked to perform a simple series of movements so that the mobility of your body can be evaluated.
Any points of postural imbalance, excess strain, weakness or specific injury will be identified.
The musculo-skeletal assessment will be considered alongside lifestyle factors such as Nutrition, work, leisure activities & stress management to enable a full diagnosis to be made and a treatment plan to be determined.
OSTEOPATHY CAN HELP WITH:
Low Back Pain
Neck Pain
Joint Injuries
Headache
Hip Pain
Sinus Problems
Repetitive Strain Issues
Postural Problems
Pregnancy Pain
Ear, Nose and Throat Congestion
Structural Developmental Issues
Adult/Childhood Seasonal Illnesses

NUTRITION
Nutrition and diet play key roles in our health and well being. I carry out a general assessment of your diet and give advice where changes are needed. Supplements such as Vitamins and Minerals or Pre- and Probiotics also greatly help in your overall health and can be highlighted or added to your program where appropriate.
The way you eat is just as important
as what you eat i.e. Timing and Fasting. Various factors and conditions come into play when we investigate digestion.
Hydration, how much and type, are also discussed within your case history.
EXERCISE & RELAXATION
Exercise and rehabilitation also form an important part of your after care program. These will be tailored to suit your particular condition. Pilates and Yoga exercises are sometimes recommended depending on your rehab program or simple home exercises may suit your needs.
Meditation/Yoga exercises are also recommended when a need to relax and de-stress are on the healing menu.
Current research shows how activation of the Vagus Nerve aids in relaxation and stress relief from trauma (Polyvagal theory, Porges).
Sleep quantity and quality are also very important for general well being
